USS Bonhomme Richard CV31

On the workbench I am doing the USS Bonhomme Richard 1/750 kit. I am doing this for a friend who served aboard her in the 50's.

This kit is so detailed I had one of those "What was I thinking" moments.

The instructions at times look like rocket science.

Included were some PE or Photo Etched parts. Although this is pretty cool I am sure it will become a big pain in the you know what.

Looks ok for now but will look better after some putty work.

Also need to number the doors in yellow. No decals so will paint these details in myself.

Got a great deal on a holding vise from Hobby Lobby. Used a gift card I got for Christmas. This vise will be really useful in all of my projects. Doubly so when I get back to my USS Constitution. Had to put that on the back shelf until this is finished. I have til May to get this one completed. It will be a great birthday gift doncha think?

1/350 TOS Enterprise Update

Mock ups of the parts on the left. Right is the Movie Enterprise

Potential Box Art

Looks like Polar Lights is really working hard on their new 1/350 scale TOS Enterprise. Lots still to do before it is ready but I have really high hopes for this one. I have already done the 1/350 Enterprise from the movies (Refit, not the JJ Abrams) Anyway I want to share a few pics I got from the 1701 club email update. PS Don't tell anybody!!! lol

My other 1/96 scale Constitution

Just a few shots of my other large scale Constitution. This one finished.

My 1/96 Scale USS Constitution

Just a few pics of my latest project. The 1/96 scale USS Constitution (OLD IRONSIDES)

I love period sailing ships and this one has the greatest level of detail of any model I have put together as yet. I have done the 1/196 scale Constitution 4 times because I love the kit so much, this is the second time I have done the larger 1/96 scale and I hope one day to do a scratchbuilt 6 to 8 foot model of wood. Never attempted that before, but I know so much about this ship that it shouldn't be that big of a stretch.
